ANCC Content Expert Panels

Would you like to play a leadership role in the largest and most prestigious national certification body for nurses? Are you interested in having the opportunity to make a difference? ANCC is now recruiting for Content Expert Panel volunteers.

Each specialty Content Expert Panel (CEP) provides ongoing review and development of the test content outline (TCO) for examinations in their respective specialty areas. The CEP constructs the exam in accordance with the TCO and participates in role delineation studies (practice analysis) once every five years.

We are currently seeking volunteers for all specialties. Applicants are approved on a rolling basis and are appointed as current panel members’ terms expire. All panel members are appointed for four year terms.

CEP Eligibility Requirements

When selecting CEP members, ANCC considers (or takes into account the following):

Representation requirements of the CEP:

  • Diverse geographic regions
  • Diverse work settings
  • Diverse ethnic backgrounds

All members must :

  • Hold an active RN license
  • Hold a current ANCC Certification, and meet practice requirements in the role and specialty of the CEP to which they are applying

For example, if you are applying for the Pediatric Nurse CEP you must hold an ANCC Pediatric Nursing Certification and be actively practicing as a Pediatric Nurse.

  • Reside in the United States of America

How Much Time Is Involved?

Serving as a Content Expert Panel member generally requires participation in two expense-paid meetings per year, each lasting three days, in Silver Spring, MD (Washington, D.C. metro area). Participation in three (sometimes more) conference calls per year is also required. Some at-home review work may be necessary.

Benefits of Becoming a Content Expert Panel Member

Active CEP members can be awarded contact hours in continuing education toward certification renewal. Members have the opportunity to play a dynamic role in the ongoing development of their nursing specialty area.
