Jeanne M. Floyd, PhD, RN, CAE, Executive Director

With more than 20 years experience as a not-for-profit nursing association executive, Dr. Jeanne Floyd serves as the Executive Director of the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the largest nurse credentialing organization in the United States.
Before taking the helm at ANCC, Dr. Floyd previously served as Director, Strategic Development, with Sigma Theta Tau International. Among her other professional experiences, she served as Executive Director of the Midwest Alliance in Nursing in Indianapolis, Indiana. While in this role, she was named Indiana Association Executive of the Year by the Indiana Society for Association Executives.
Dr. Floyd earned her Ph.D. from The Pennsylvania State University, M.S. from the University of Maryland School of Nursing, and B.S. from the College of Notre Dame School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland. She also holds a B.A. from the University of San Francisco Department of Sociology/Social Welfare and a Diploma from the Truesdale Hospital School of Nursing in Massachusetts.
At ANCC, Dr. Floyd heads up the six major programs and a staff of 70 that make up the16 year old credentialing center. The Certification Program offers 40 examinations and certification renewals for nursing specialists, advanced practice nurses and diabetes educators who are dietitians and pharmacists. Currently, 135,000 individuals are certified through ANCC. The organization also accredits providers and approvers of nursing continuing education as well as providing continuing education sessions.
The Magnet Recognition Program honors health care facilities that consistently recruit and retain the best and brightest health care professionals who team together to provide high quality patient care; 215 hospitals have received the Magnet Recognition award to date. Provision of credentialing services beyond the U.S. occurs through Credentialing International. Over the last several years, global interesting credentialing has increased with particular interest in the Magnet Program, accreditation and certification.
The program known as the Institute for Credentialing Innovation provides educational workshops, review seminars, consultation and certification preparation review manuals. Finally, the Credentialing Research Program is the newest offering at ANCC. This program serves to identify areas of needed research, act as a clearinghouse for credentialing research, promote research partnerships and select the Margretta Madden Styles annual research scholar.
