• Mary A. (Mandy) Doolittle
  1950-2009
  The tragic accident on Washington, DC’s, Metrorail on Monday, June 22, 2009, claimed the life of our friend and colleague Mandy Doolittle. She began her tenure with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a senior administrative assistant. Then, after two years as the senior governance specialist at the American Nurses Association (ANA), Mandy rejoined ANCC as the senior international credentialing specialist—a position she held for nearly eight years until her death.

• Joint Accreditation for the Provider of Continuing Education for the Healthcare Team is Now Available
  The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Accreditation Program are pleased to announce that they have collaborated in offering "Accreditation of Continuing Education Planned by the Team for the Team." The goals of this joint accreditation are to support healthcare team-focused education that improves patient care, and at the same time to streamline the accreditation processes.
  
  
• $25,000 Grant Awarded to Support Research on Hospital Care of Older Adults
  The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) selected Marie Boltz, PhD, RN, GNP-BC as winner of the 2008 Margretta Madden Styles Credentialing Scholars Grant Award. Dr. Boltz will use her $25,000 grant to examine the relationship between the quality of nursing in geriatric units and the percentage of nurses in those units who are certified.

• ANCC Announces Winner of First Credentialing Advocacy Partner Award
  The American Nurse Credentialing Center recognized Mary B. Edelen, MA, of Vermillion, S. Dakota, as the first recipient of the ANCC Credentialing Advocacy Partner Award. The award was presented at this year’s National Magnet Conference™ in Salt Lake City, October 15 – 17.

• ANCC Announces New Credentials for Clinical Nurse Specialists
  The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Commission on Certification (COC) has officially announced ANCC’s new advanced practice credentials for clinical nurse specialists (CNSs) and nurse practitioners (NPs). The previous credential, APRN,BC (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Board Certified) is retired effective January 1, 2008.
  
  
• ANCC Updates Nursing Administration Certifications and Credentials
  The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) is changing the names of its Nursing Administration certification exams and updating the credentials to bring them in line with contemporary health care culture and terminology. The new names for these exams are Nurse Executive and Nurse Executive, Advanced.
  
  
• New Name & Credential for Advanced Public/Community Health Certification
  The ANCC Commission on Certification announces new name and credential for advanced public/community health certification. The change, which is not retroactive, is effective from May 18, 2008.

  For the latest information on Prometric test center closures, please visit the Prometric site's Important News page.

  If your center has been closed, then Prometric will be contacting affected candidates via email and phone to assist in scheduling a new exam appointment.  If you are scheduled to test and find your test center closed, please know you will be provided with an opportunity to re-schedule at no charge.
