Application & Redesignation Process

Nurse with Clipboard

The Magnet™ application and appraisal process is recognition of a health care organization's attainment of excellence in nursing. It is also a rewarding and valuable educational experience for an organization seeking focus and direction for growth and development. The process is thorough and lengthy, demanding widespread participation with the applicant organization's nurses. Health care organizations find the journey to be a revealing self assessment— creating opportunity for organizational advancement, team building, and enhancement of individual professional self esteem.

Review Eligibility Requirements

All aspiring applicants should begin by carefully reviewing the Eligibility Requirements for Organizations or the Eligibility Requirements for Systems.

Assessing Eligibility: Eligibility requirements exist for applicant organizations and also for applicants applying as a system. System applicants must meet each of the system requirements in addition to the requirements for individual organizations.

Review Fees

Fees become due as milestones are reached during the assessment phase. Applicant organizations will receive specific communication regarding the nature and processing of each fee in a timely manner. Scroll down to Related Resources for a link to the current fee schedule.
