Submit with initial written documentation and redesignation written documentation and annually during the anniversary month of designation. Organizations must use the most recent version of the DIF available when they begin data collection. Use only DIFs with a revision form date of 4/24/2009 or after.

   Selected Examples of National Certifications for Submission on the DIF (Excel: 62KB) updated 8/27/2010
The professional certifications are listed in 3 categories according to their accreditation status. The accrediting bodies are the American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS) or the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).  Category A includes accredited national RN certifications.  Category N includes non-accredited national RN certifications. Category M includes national multidisciplinary certifications. This listing is not finite as new certifications evolve and existing certifications are updated.

Only certifications that appear in these categories should be added to the DIF.  Certifications not currently listed should be sent to the Magnet Program Office for consideration. Please include the actual credential, the name of the certification and the name and website of the organization that grants the certification and send to magnet@ana.org.
