All Magnet™ applicant and designated organizations are responsible for maintaining awareness of current program requirements.
CNO Education:
The CNO must possess a Master's degree.
Effective January 1, 2008, the CNO must possess a degree in nursing that is at the baccalaureate level or higher. For instance, if the CNO's baccalaureate degree is not in nursing, the Masters or doctoral degree must be in nursing to meet the eligibility requirement. If the graduate level degrees are in other disciplines, then the CNO must have a baccalaureate degree in nursing to meet the eligibility requirement.
Unfair Labor Practices:
If your organization is submitting an application and has had a ULP as defined in the Magnet Recognition Program® Application Manual 2005, your organization will be required to submit the following materials and answers to the following questions to enable the Magnet Commissioners to fully assess your organization's request to be permitted to submit documentation.
-
Provide a copy of the final adjudicating body's decision regarding the ULP.
-
Provide an explanation as to why your organization took the action(s) that led to the ULP and why, initially, your organization thought that the action(s) was not a ULP.
-
Identify the participants (Chief Nursing Officer, Human Resources, Executive Committee, Unit Manager, etc.) within your organization who took part in deciding to take the action that led to the ULP?
-
What, if any, were the final orders dictated by the adjudicating body to correct the ULP?
-
Have all of the final orders from the adjudicating body been followed?
-
What actions have been taken in an effort to stop future ULP's of this nature that are beyond the final orders of the adjudicating body?
-
Provide a sealed statement from the Charging Party (a local union, if applicable), that addresses:
-
The current status of your organization's actions surrounding the ULP at issue, and
-
Any corrective measures your organization has taken beyond the final orders of the adjudicating body, as referred to in item 5.
This statement should only concern and be limited to the ULP at issue and should not provide an opinion as to whether the organization should or should not be a Magnet facility. The statement can be made openly if the Charging Party chooses.
